3G Americas and The Association of Telecommunications Enterprises of the Andean Community (ASETA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in January 2005 for a mutual cooperation regarding wireless communications issues in the region. This cooperative relationship entails the sharing of technical information and participation in related wireless events as well as other projects and activities to strengthen the wireless evolution in the Andean community.
The focus is just not on the wireless evolution but will also include spectrum policies and planning, regulation, and using wireless technology to support the social and economic development in the Andean region countries of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Undertaking joint projects will support the wireless regulatory activities of Andean countries that would have an impact in regulatory discussions taking place at CITEL, the official regulatory body of the Americas.
