James J. Healy is Vice President Business Alliances for T-Mobile USA, a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG. T-Mobile USA operates the largest GSM/GPRS 1900 voice and data network, and the largest carrier owned Wi-Fi network, in the United States. Mr Healy accepted this position in May 2003 after serving as President of Cook Inlet T-Mobile PCS from its inception in 1995 until May 2003. Cook Inlet T-Mobile PCS is a partnership between Cook Inlet Region, Inc, an Alaskan Native corporation, and T-Mobile USA (and its predecessors).
Mr. Healy is Chair of GSM North America, and serves on the boards of 3G Americas and ATIS (Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions). He is a former executive director of C.T.I.A. (Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association) and a former chair of the worldwide GSM Association. The GSM Association is comprised of approximately 700 GSM operators providing service to more than 825 million customers in 190 plus countries around the world.
Mr. Healy's prior experience includes: Vice President - Operations of McCaw Cellular's (now AT&T Wireless) Wireless Data Division, President, CEO and a director of O'Neill Communications Inc. a pioneer in wireless LANs, and President, COO and a director of Millicom Incorporated (NASDAQ: MICC), an international cellular and paging company. Jim was Nortel's first director of sales for Cellular Telephone Systems and began his communications career with AT&T. He was also a founding Director of WINForum and an early Director of C.T.I.A. Healy is a graduate of LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York, and earned his MBA degree at Syracuse University
