Richard Piper, Director -Strategic Accounts, Hewlett Packard, is responsible for setting the strategy and vision for the Compaq wireless applications and solutions. Prior to being appointed to this position in April 2000, Piper served as Compaq Senior Manager for Business Development where he directed all aspects of global business development - specifically focusing on the Latin American region for Wireless Intelligent Network solutions.

Piper has over a decade of extensive knowledge and experience in engineering across the telecommunications industry and has developed and managed numerous business development and engineering programs in wireless (CDMA, PCS 1999, terrestrial satellite), ISDN and ATM technologies for Raytheon E-Systems and the Telecommunications Division for Electrospace Systems Inc.

Additionally, Richard has a long career of serving in the United States Air Force and currently holds a commission as an officer in the Biomedical Services Corps and is attached to the reserve forces. In the Air Force his responsibilities included working on the design and deployment of advanced software systems. He also developed large-scale national communication networks to support data distribution.

Piper holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas in Electrical Engineering and is presently completing a Masters Degree in Engineering at Southern Methodist University, Dallas Texas.
